The Legal Aid Forum (LAF), a vibrant network of over 35 organizations dedicated to advancing access to justice and human rights in Rwanda, is looking for talented individuals to join its Secretariat. We are excited to announce four important job openings—each vital to our mission of ensuring justice and legal aid for all.

1. Executive Personal Assistant (1 Position)
Do you thrive in fast-paced environments and enjoy helping leaders stay organized and focused? As our Executive Personal Assistant, you will be the right hand of LAF’s Executive Director, providing crucial support that keeps our organization running smoothly.
What you’ll do:
- Advise and support the Executive Director (ED) on key projects and priorities.
- Ensure smooth communication between the ED’s office and other departments.
- Manage the ED’s busy calendar and travel arrangements.
- Serve as a friendly and effective liaison with internal and external partners.
- Draft correspondence, organize documents, and prepare meeting briefs.
- Take clear meeting notes and track action points.
- Keep the ED well-prepared for all meetings and commitments.
What we’re looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, International Relations, Law, ICT, or a related field.
- At least 5 years’ experience supporting executives, preferably in non-profits.
- Excellent written and verbal communication (English, French, and Kinyarwanda).
- Comfortable with IT and office software.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and able to juggle multiple tasks.

2. Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Specialist (1 Position)
Are you passionate about measuring impact and helping organizations learn and grow? As our MEL Specialist, you’ll ensure that LAF’s programs deliver real results for the communities we serve.
What you’ll do:
- Guide the Secretariat and member organizations on all things MEL.
- Collect, analyze, and report on legal aid service data.
- Design and oversee implementation of MEL frameworks and tools.
- Conduct field visits and write actionable monitoring reports.
- Integrate MEL into project design and fundraising.
- Prepare insightful reports for management and donors.
- Train and build capacity among LAF members.
- Document inspiring success stories and lessons learned.
What we’re looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Project Management, Human Rights, or related fields.
- 7 years’ experience as an MEL specialist, especially in justice, law, or human rights.
- Experience in non-profits and donor reporting.
- Strong data analysis skills (Excel, Power BI, SPSS, KoboToolbox).
- Fluent in English and Kinyarwanda.
- Excellent communicator and trainer.

3. Senior Legal Aid Attorneys/Advocates (Multiple Positions)
Do you have deep legal experience and a heart for serving vulnerable communities? As a Senior Legal Aid Attorney at LAF, you’ll provide critical legal services that change lives—from court representation to strategic litigation for the public good.
What you’ll do:
- Advise on assigned legal cases and offer sound opinions.
- Represent clients in court (criminal, civil, labor, administrative, and public interest cases).
- Manage client files with professionalism and care.
- Prepare legal documents, court submissions, and administrative correspondence.
- Conduct due diligence and mediation as needed.
- Participate in Mobile Legal Aid Clinics.
- Stay up-to-date with laws and legal reforms.
- Uphold LAF’s high standards for legal aid.
What we’re looking for:
- Law degree and valid advocate’s card.
- At least 8 years as a practicing attorney, with 5 years helping vulnerable people.
- Experience in public interest litigation is highly valued.
- In good standing with the Rwanda Bar Association.
- Strong knowledge of Rwanda’s legal aid framework.
- Attorneys experienced with rural communities are especially encouraged to apply.

4. Call Centre Legal Officers (Multiple Positions)
Are you a people person who loves helping others? As a Call Centre Legal Officer, you’ll be the friendly and knowledgeable voice at the other end of LAF’s “1022” legal aid helpline.
What you’ll do:
- Answer calls from citizens seeking legal information and advice.
- Provide accurate guidance and make referrals as needed.
- Record and categorize every call in our system.
- Conduct follow-up calls to support beneficiaries.
- Ensure strict confidentiality and ethical handling of client information.
- Help analyze call data and prepare reports.
- Uphold professionalism, empathy, and ethical conduct in all interactions.
What we’re looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law and Diploma in Legal Practice (ILPD).
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in legal aid or client advisory roles.
- Strong knowledge of Rwanda’s legal aid and justice sector.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong data entry and reporting skills.
- Fluent in Kinyarwanda and English.
